Hopkinsville’s First Presbyterian Church brought a touch of Scotland to Main Street with its Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan service.

The Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan service, a Scottish-American tradition with bagpipe music, begins at 11 a.m. at the Hopkinsville church.

Each tour, one at 4:30 p.m. and the other at 7 p.m., will last about 90 minutes. The two groups will share a catered supper in the cemetery at 6 p.m.

Norman’s work, especially “Kinfolks,” depicted Appalachia in ways more alive and vivid than common stereotypical treatments.

The Pennyroyal Arts Council organized the mural camp for local students.

Western Kentucky University professor emeritus Tamela Williams Smith, who grew up in Trigg County, will be the guest speaker.

Sponsored by Hopkinsville Electric, the parade's theme this year is "Christmas Vacation," and its grand marshal is retiring HWEA president and CEO Derrick Watson.

The gathering has become an annual Hoptown tradition.

This will be the first time that a smARTS program is open to the general public, giving the community an opportunity to see what local students learn through arts council’s offerings. 

The musical runs Sept. 25 to 28 at the Alhambra Theatre.

Tickets go on sale Sept. 24, and the concert is Nov. 22 at the Alhambra Theatre.

The camp for students is fifth through 12th grade will run during fall break, Oct. 6 to 10 in downtown Hopkinsville.
