Winter weather advisory issued for Hopkinsville with threat of ice and snow

The advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. Thursday through 9 a.m. Friday.

Another round of winter weather is headed into Hopkinsville, and the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 10 a.m. Thursday to 9 a.m. Friday across Western Kentucky.

The region will see a “wintry mix of light precipitation, including snow and freezing rain and drizzle, from later this morning into this evening,” officials said Thursday.

Light snow is possible again late Thursday night with the potential for “a glaze of ice and minor snow accumulation.”

The ice could make driving hazardous, especially Thursday evening and early Friday.

The NWS also warned that the wind chill could drop to minus 7 degrees Friday night, followed by similar conditions Saturday night.

Christian County Public Schools and Hopkinsville Community College remained closed Thursday, while University Heights Academy, Heritage Christian Academy and Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School were back in session. However, several entities announced plans to close early.

All public and private schools, and Hopkinsville Community College, will be closed Friday.

Delays and closures

  • Hopkinsville Municipal Center, opening two hours later, at 10 a.m. Friday
  • Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library, closed Friday
