Organizers say the festival will celebrate the South Christian town's history, creativity and community spirit.

Following Driskell's reading at the public library, Hopkinsville writer Eric Morris will lead a writing workshop based on Driskell's poetry.

The Taste of the Town, featuring food trucks, music and dancing, is planned at Founders Square, and special programming will happen at the Pennyroyal Area Museum.

Hopkinsville native Gant Gaither, an artist known for whimsical paintings featuring animals, is the inspiration for the gala.

The restaurant will serve a pizza buffet, and the museum's executive director will lead a program on Hotel Latham's history.

The Art Loop, on Aug. 22, will feature 30 artists in 10 studios and host venues.
