Local genealogist Yvette Holmes, who has shared her research in a Hoptown Chronicle story, will lead the Oct. 22 History on Tap program.

The theme is “A Snowman’s Winter Wonderland,” and the grand marshal will be Jeff Hurd, general manager of Hopkinsville Electric System & EnergyNet. 

The weather might feel like summer, but Hopkinsville has a slew of autumn-themed happenings, including the Christian County 4-H's Bale Trail.

The Oct. 17 tour will focus on the symbolism of old headstones, stories of people laid to rest there and identification of trees in the cemetery. 

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the local brewery's Hoptoberfest, which has popular activities like the stein-holding competition and the beard contest.

The Hopkinsville walk begins with registration at 9 a.m. at the Stadium of Champions.

Admission is free, but the Pennyroyal Arts Council will donate 100% of concession proceeds to the local Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

Organizers say the festival will celebrate the South Christian town's history, creativity and community spirit.

Open daily to the public from dawn to dusk, Jeffers Bend has 41 acres of woodland along the North Fork of Little River.
