Downtown trick-or-treating planned on Friday, Oct. 30

Businesses and community groups will hand out candy to children from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. along South Main Street.

Hopkinsville’s downtown trick-or-treating is set for 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, along South Main Street from Sixth Street to 13th Street.

Downtown businesses and community groups will hand out candy to children (up to 12 years old and accompanied by an adult), said event organizers with Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation.

To accommodate the large number of children, traffic and parking restrictions will be in place from 3 to 6 p.m. along the South Main Street route set aside for trick or treating.

In addition, the following streets will be blocked 3 to 6 p.m.:

  • Ninth Street from Bethel Street to South Virginia Street
  • Main Street from Seventh Street to 13th Street
  • All side streets off Main Street from Seventh Street to 13th Street

Although the date that city officials choose for downtown trick-or-treating can vary from year to year, traditionally in Hopkinsville trick-or-treating from house to house in neighborhoods always occurs on Halloween, Oct. 31.
