Halloween trick-or-treating in downtown Hopkinsville will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31.
Merchants and community groups will be handing out candy on Main Street between Sixth and 13th streets — and on East Ninth Street between Main and Virginia streets.

“Adults are encouraged to accompany children ages 12 and under,” organizers said in a press release from Hopkinsville Park and Recreation.
Trick-or-treaters need to bring their own bags.
Traditionally in Hopkinsville, many families bring their children downtown on Halloween afternoon and then go to their neighborhoods to trick-or-treat.
The downtown event will affect traffic and parking on Friday. No traffic or parked vehicles will be allowed from 3 until 6 p.m. on Main Street between Sixth and 13th streets.
From 3 until 6 p.m., the following streets will be blocked:
- Ninth Street from Bethel Street to Virginia Street
- Main Street from Seventh Street to 13th Street
- All side streets off Main Street from Seventh Street to 13th Street.
