CNN reported that the soldiers were serving with to the 1st Theater Sustainment Command from Fort Knox

Beshear confirmed early Tuesday in a social media post that the soldiers included some who were based in Kentucky.

“America, let’s join together and pray for the families of the now six soldiers killed in attacks by Iran — including those based out of my home state, Kentucky. Let’s wrap our arms around them during this difficult time,” Beshear wrote on X.

As of Tuesday afternoon, U.S. military officials had not released the soldiers’ identities.

“The identities of the fallen are being withheld until 24 hours after next of kin notification,” U.S. Central Command wrote in a post on X.
