Museum to host presentation on America’s 250th celebration plans

Tyler McDaniel, of the Kentucky Historical Society, will share how KHS is leading efforts to explore Kentucky’s role in the United States before, during and after the revolution.

Community members are invited to a presentation and discussion at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 28, to learn about plans for celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026.

Tyler McDaniel, the America250KY Commission administrator for the Kentucky Historical Society, will share how KHS is leading efforts to explore Kentucky’s role in the United States before, during and after the revolution.

The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County will host the presentation at the Pennyroyal Area Museum, 217 E. Ninth St.

A press release from Alissa Keller, executive director of the Hopkinsville museums, states, “America250KY will rely on collaboration from multiple entities and perspectives within communities to tell the most all-encompassing story of our Commonwealth. This discussion shares information about the America250KY program, statewide feedback we’ve received on what Kentuckians want from this commemoration, programming themes designed specifically for Kentucky, and strategies for planning and implementation in your own community.”

Anyone planning to attend the presentation is asked to contact Keller at 270-887-4270 to register. Her email address is akeller@museumsofhopkinsville.org. A light lunch will be served.
