Hopkinsville Parks & Recreation offering free yoga classes twice a week

The classes will be taught at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Thomas Street Recreation Center.

Hopkinsville Parks & Recreation will offer free yoga classes at 9 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday, beginning Aug. 11, at the Thomas Street Recreation Center, 2600 Thomas St.

The classes, in a partnership with Balance Wellness, are designed for “all ages, abilities, and experience levels,” recreation officials said in a press release. Both chair and mat yoga will be offered. 

Participants could be:

  • New to yoga
  • Have limited mobility
  • Recovering from an injury
  • Prefer a gentler practice

“Participants can expect a welcoming atmosphere focused on improving flexibility, balance, strength, circulation, and stress reduction,” the release states. “The classes are offered free of charge as part of Hopkinsville Parks & Recreation’s ongoing commitment to providing healthy, inclusive recreational opportunities for the community.”

Recreation Superintendent Toby Hudson added, “We believe recreation is about creating opportunities for everyone to live healthier, happier lives.”
