Residents 40+ eligible to schedule vaccine appointments at Bruce Center

The Christian County Health Department announced it is extending the vaccine availability to everyone in Phase 2.

All Kentucky residents age 40 and older are now eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine at the James E. Bruce Convention Center, local health officials announced Wednesday.

The Christian County Health Department is extending the vaccine availability to everyone in Phase 2, which includes those 40 and older, and anyone who is at least 18 and has one of the high-risk health conditions cited by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. All essential workers are also eligible.

The expanded availability comes two days after the health department opened up appointments for residents 50 and older.

Vaccine appointments can be scheduled online or by calling the health department at 270-887-4160, ext. 640. The department is experiencing a high call volume, and wait times may be longer than expected, according to health department spokeswoman Amanda Sweeney Brunt. The quickest way to sign up is online.

The Bruce Center is one of the state’s regional vaccine sites. The local health department manages it.
