Tornado watch issued for Christian County

The watch will remain in effect until 3 p.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning Tuesday morning for a portion of Western Kentucky, including Christian, Todd and Trigg counties. It remains in effect until 3 p.m.

Severe weather could bring “damaging winds, tornadoes, and large hail,” the NWS at Paducah said in its advisory.

A tornado watch means that severe weather could produce a tornado.

“Another round of severe weather may also develop later in the morning through early afternoon ahead of an approaching cold front,” the NWS advisory states. “The greatest risk for additional severe weather will be in southwest Indiana and western Kentucky.”

The storm could produce winds gusting up to 30 to 40 mph.
