The Book & Bottle Shop slates open mic poetry night

Participants at the Thursday event will be invited to read original poetry, a selection from a favorite author, spoken word or prose.

The Book & Bottle Shop in downtown Hopkinsville will host an open mic poetry night beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 29.

Up to 20 guests may read their own original poetry, pieces from favorite authors, spoken word or prose, the shop announced in a press release

Anyone who wants to read for the audience should register online. Up to 20 spots are available. Any remaining spots Thursday evening will be available for sign-ups at the door.

“Performances are limited to five minutes maximum, with no more than three poems or three pages of prose to be read, regardless of length,” the release states. “While original work is encouraged, performances of published work are acceptable with full credits and rights given to the original author.”
