After someone noticed a hole in the pavement, a state highway crew dug off the road surface to check below and a much larger opening developed.

The Hopkinsville fair, celebrating its 75th edition, will culminate with a fireworks show on the 250th anniversary of America's independence.

The event, including a program with Hopkinsville-Christian County Historian William T. Turner, will be on July 11.

Artists are sought to create and donate artsy chairs with a functional design. The project culminates with a silent auction on June 26.

David, a cancer survivor and musician, is currently on the “No Turning Back” tour through several states. He'll be at the Hopkinsville church on June 1 and 2.

The series also includes a country-rock and folk music show, a Celtic Christmas concert, a Motown show and concerts by Grammy-winners Linda Davis and the Steep Canyon Rangers. 

The dinner, themed "Rooted in Community, Growing Our Future," will be June 11.

A reception and luncheon in recognition of the Donegans and their ministry is planned June 14.

Friday's graduation ceremonies marked the end of an era for the two public high schools. They will consolidate into one school in August.

Baker, pastor of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church from 1989 to 2003, led efforts to construct a new church building and helped establish St. Luke Free Clinic.

The expansion will create 200 new jobs at the Hopkinsville plant, where 165 workers are currently employed.

The Pennyroyal Arts Council presented the awards to student Bailey Bayne and her teacher, Paula Gieseke.
