Hopkinsville museum’s birthday celebration moving to Memorial Building

Organizers decided on the venue change because of the forecast for rain.

The 50th Birthday BBQ Bash for the Pennyroyal Area Museum is moving to the Memorial Building downtown because of the forecast for rain on Saturday, July 11. It was originally planned outdoors at the museum.

The celebration is set for noon to 2 p.m., and doors will open at 11:30 a.m.

The event will feature a BBQ lunch catered by Pioneers Inc. and a special program featuring Hopkinsville-Christian County Historian William T. Turner and the museum’s executive director, Alissa Keller, organizers said in a press release.

The event is sold out, so tickets are no longer available.

“Don’t worry if you don’t have a physical ticket, we have your names for check-in,” the museum noted in a Facebook post.

Patrons who purchased a package that includes 50th birthday T-shirts and glasses can pick up their merch at the museum, 217 E. Ninth St., from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday, or during the event Saturday at the Memorial Building.

The Hopkinsville History Foundation is hosting the party. The foundation is a nonprofit organization established  in 2023 to support the mission of the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County.
