History on Tap: Life and art of Gant Gaither

Local museum director Alissa Keller will give the program on Aug. 27 at Hopkinsville Brewing Co.

Three years ago, local museum director Alissa Keller received an unsolicited donation of photographs and related materials from a home in Palm Springs, California, that once belonged to Hopkinsville native Gant Gaither.

The materials in that large collection have helped broaden an understanding of Gaither’s work and life in the arts. A theater producer in New York and Hollywood, Gaither also created a line of textiles and home interior goods based on whimsical animal designs he painted.

Keller will discuss Gaither during the next History on Tap program, titled “From Hoptown to Hollywood: Gant Gaither’s Life & Art,” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Hopkinsville Brewing Co. She “will explore the life of Gant Gaither, one of the most creative souls ever to come out of Hopkinsville, through the materials he left behind,” the museum announced in a press release.

The History on Tap program comes ahead of the museum’s third annual gala on Friday, Sept. 18. Two tickets to the Gaither-themed gala will be given away during History on Tap.
