Hopkinsville Community College is inviting Purple Heart recipients who reside in the area to a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 31, when the Military Order of the Purple Heart of Kentucky will make a special presentation.
The Purple Heart is presented to service members who have been wounded or killed as a result of enemy action against the U.S. military. Recipients who want to attend the luncheon should call the college at 270-707-3733 no later than March 25.
“We are honored that the Military Order of the Purple Heart of Kentucky will join us as we consider the great sacrifices of our military, especially during this time. HCC has decades of service to active duty military and their family members as well as veterans, across the region,” HCC President Dr. Alissa Young said in a press release. “Pausing to say thanks, especially to those who have given so much for the freedoms we treasure is important to our college family.”
The invitation was made by the college and the HCC Foundation. Nancy Bullard is the foundation president.
Members of the Christian County High School (Air Force) and Hopkinsville High School (Army) Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps programs will attend the luncheon and present colors.
