Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School is suspending middle school program

The decision was based on enrollment trends and long-term sustainability, but school officials left open the possibility of later restoring the middle school.

Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School will suspend its middle school program after the end of this school year.

The decision follows a “careful review of enrollment trends and long-term sustainability,” the school announced Monday in a press release.

“We remain committed to Catholic education; with this transition we are taking a strategic step to strengthen the school’s foundation,” the release states. “Moving forward, Saints Peter & Paul will focus its efforts on growing and enhancing its pre-K through 5th grade program, ensuring a strong Catholic identity, academic excellence, and long-term vitality.”

The suspension does not mean the middle school is permanently closed, school officials said.

“The Middle School has experienced suspension before in the school’s history and was later restored when conditions allowed. A suspension beginning in 2026 does not signify permanent closure, but rather a period of refocusing and renewal,” the release states.

Current seventh-graders will have an opportunity to remain and graduate from eighth grade in 2027. An informational for parents of seventh-graders is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10.
