Community members will be able to see several movies free of charge this summer and again later in the year at the Alhambra Theatre.
The series “offers a mix of family-friendly favorites, highly anticipated new releases, and beloved holiday classics,” the Pennyroyal Arts Council announced in a press release.
“Our three-year goal is ‘Preserving the Arts, Creating Impact,’ and this programming is one way we intend to fulfill our goals,” Margaret Prim, the arts council’s executive director, said the release.

The summer series includes:
- June 16 — “A Minecraft Movie” (10 a.m.) and ‘Wicked: For Good” (6:30 p.m.)
- June 23 — “The Sandlot” (10 a.m.) and “Avatar: Fire & Ash” (6:30 p.m.)
- June 30 — “Zootopia 2” (10 a.m.) and “Fantastic Four: First Steps” (6:30 p.m.)
- July 7 — “How to Train Your Dragon” (10 a.m.) and “Jurassic World:Rebirth” (6:30 p.m.)
The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library will sponsor goody bags for the 10 a.m. children’s movies. The first 50 children in attendance will receive a complimentary movie-themed goody bag.
The autumn and holiday series includes:
- Sept. 29 —Academy Award winner “Hamnet” (6:30 p.m.)
- Oct. 31 — Academy Award winner “Sinners” (6:30 p.m.)
- Nov. 24 — “Joy” (6:30 p.m.)
- Dec. 22 Holiday Marathon — “The Nightmare Before Christmas” (9 a.m.), “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” (noon) and “It’s a Wonderful Life” (6:30 p.m.)
