Food trucks and live music are planned for the gathering.

The gala theme is a nod to the 1925 Kentucky Derby victory by Flying Ebony, a thoroughbred colt raised in Christian County.

Coinciding with the Eighth of August emancipation celebration, Taste of the Town features local food, music and family-friendly activities.

Community members will be able to see the artists and their works at 14 locations across the city and county on Saturday, Aug. 23.

The shop announced that "Performances of all kinds are welcome, from original poetry, to readings, to spoken word, and everything in between."

The exhibit in Cadiz features large-scale animal paintings by Lori Spradley, a Texas artist who will attend the opening reception on Saturday, July 12. It continues through Aug. 22.

The outdoor ticketed event is for guests 21 and older.

The Kentucky Humanities-sponsored discussion on July 19 will focus on “Savory Memories: Kentucky Foodways."

The special evenings with extended hours for businesses and a focus on local artists and musicians are planned July 24, Aug. 28 and Sept. 25.

Artists selected for an exhibition will show their work in the Auditorium Gallery.

The Pennyroyal Arts Council and the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library are collaborating on the series to bring a mix of children's shows and adult features.
