‘Soul Strolls,’ walking tours of Riverside Cemetery, planned on Nov. 1

Each tour, one at 4:30 p.m. and the other at 7 p.m., will last about 90 minutes. The two groups will share a catered supper in the cemetery at 6 p.m.

The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County will offer two walking tours of Riverside Cemetery, 530 N. Main St., on Saturday, Nov. 1.

The “Soul Strolls” will follow the traditions of All Saints’ Day and Die de los Muertos while celebrating the lives of several people buried at Riverside Cemetery, the city’s largest burial ground.

“We will pay our respects by remembering these folks by telling stories of their lives and of their contributions to Hopkinsville and beyond,” a museum staff member said in a press release.

The first tour starts at 4:30 p.m. with a catered supper to follow at 6 p.m. The second group will start with supper at 6 p.m., followed by the tour at 7 p.m.

Each tour, limited to 30 people, will cover approximately 1 mile and last 90 minutes.

The cost is $25 per person — or $20 for museum members. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Pennyroyal Area Museum, 217 E. Ninth St.
