During a meeting Tuesday of the legislature's Unemployment Insurance Reform Task Force, lawmakers recounted horror stories of constituents and businesses who had trouble with the unemployment system.

Kentucky has been locked in a similar battle with Sunrise Children’s Services, a Baptist organization that has so far refused to renew its contract because of a clause that bans discrimination based on sexual orientation.

The 30-minute, live webinar will equip participants with the knowledge they need to successfully use the open records law as amended in the 2021 legislative session.

Lawmakers will have to draw new districts to account for shifts in population, especially from more rural parts of the state in Eastern and Western Kentucky to the so-called “golden triangle” of Louisville, Lexington and Northern Kentucky.

The hearing comes a day before most of the governor’s coronavirus-related restrictions are scheduled to end, but it could still determine how states of emergency are handled in the future and how much power the legislative branch has to tweak the executive branch.
