Mayor James R. Knight Jr. said the city will be bolstering a sidewalk barrier around the Phoenix during Summer Salute on Friday and Saturday.

Christian Circuit Court Judge Andrew Self's ruling means the city will not be awarding a contract to one of the four companies that submitted bids.

The commission, established by city council to improve the local small business climate, will meet monthly on the second Wednesday.

A schedule outlined during a court hearing Thursday indicates the building will be removed within approximately 50 days.

The commission is part of Mayor James R. Knight Jr.'s plan to focus on the needs of small businesses.

The reception is for the outgoing police chief, deputy police chief, city clerk, chief financial officer, and parks and recreation superintendent.

Ahead of the November general election, the board will consider eliminating a few polling places that had some of the lowest numbers in the last two elections.
