The board also voted to add a third early voting location at the Boys and Girls Clubs.

The commission, established by city council to improve the local small business climate, will meet monthly on the second Wednesday.

A schedule outlined during a court hearing Thursday indicates the building will be removed within approximately 50 days.

The commission is part of Mayor James R. Knight Jr.'s plan to focus on the needs of small businesses.

The reception is for the outgoing police chief, deputy police chief, city clerk, chief financial officer, and parks and recreation superintendent.

Ahead of the November general election, the board will consider eliminating a few polling places that had some of the lowest numbers in the last two elections.

Farmer is taking over a program that faces several changes following funding cuts and the abrupt resignation of Idalia Luna, who became executive director in December 2019.

Luna accepted terms from the HRC executive committee to leave early but expressed "great disappointment" over its handling of the matter.

The seven days of the year when fireworks may be discharged are July 1 to 5, and on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Mayor James R. Knight Jr. said the city will be posting signs to address what he called "an abundance of squatters."

Also at Tuesday's council meeting, several appointments to boards and commissions were announced.
