On Saturday, carry-out customers dined on boxed meals inside The Village Restaurant's parking lot tent at Canton Street and Navajo Trail. Two sides of the tent were still open only partially — the main point of dispute between the owners and health officials.

The governor's comments were in response to problems the Christian County Health Department is having with a local restaurant that refused to stop serving customers after its permit was suspended.

The dispute is apparently over the size of side openings on the tent following Gov. Andy Beshear’s executive order that halted inside restaurant dining Nov. 20 through Dec. 13 because of an escalation of COVID-19 cases.

The changes, effective Monday, are in response to Gov. Andy Beshear’s announcement Wednesday of new, mandatory restrictions aimed at curbing the coronavirus spread in Kentucky.

Attorneys and their clients will still appear in the judge’s courtroom. They will see the judge on a video screen at the bench while he is in isolation at home.

This marks the third time a positive case has forced all or part of the courthouse to close.

Christian County's status as a "red zone" county prompted the changes.

The total number of people voting in the 2020 general election was a local record but the percentage fell short of Christian County’s turnout in other presidential elections.

After the last absentee ballots were counted, incumbents Darvin Adams and Jimmy Dossett learned they had lost their bids for another term in office.

The incumbent interim mayor built most of his early lead over businessman James R. Knight Jr. through absentee ballots.

The coronavirus pandemic brought major changes to the ways voters could cast ballots. In the past, most voters had to go to their assigned precinct on Election Day. This year, voters could go to any of the seven polls open today, as well as two polls that were open for early voting on 18 days prior to Election Day. State election officials also made it easier for anyone to cast an absentee ballot.
