The driver shortage isn’t a new problem, but the coronavirus pandemic was a “perfect storm” that escalated the challenge of staffing 96 bus routes in Christian County, said Mike Brumley, who has been the district’s transportation director for 12 years.
During the Unity Breakfast, awards were also presented to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, the Salvation Army and the Christian County Health Department for the work during the coronavirus pandemic.
The $10 million grant, from a state program earmarked for vocational school facilities, will go toward construction of the district's consolidated high school.
