Following an increase in local COVID-19 cases, Christian County Health Director Kayla Bebout on Sept. 23 issued new guidance that included a call to places of worship, schools, community groups and businesses to discontinue gatherings and community events through Oct. 2.

Hopkinsville/Christian County YMCA
Youth soccer and flag football programs will be suspended through Oct. 2. Practices will resume after noon Oct. 2 and games will resume after fall break on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Hopkinsville City Council & Committee of the Whole
The city announced it would return to virtual meetings. The meetings will be streamed live at hoptown.org/tv.
Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department
The Department has postponed or rescheduled events and activities and closed the following facilities: playgrounds, pavilions, restrooms, Sportsplex, Thomas Street Center, and the skate park.
The rail-trail, dog park and walking trail at Tie Breaker Park open for walking, jogging and biking. Restrooms at the North Drive Trail Head and the Dog Park will remain open. The Sportsplex and Thomas Street Rec Center will be open for walkers only. The Sportsplex will be open from 8 a.m. to noon weekdays for walking only and will be closed Saturday and Sunday.
Recreation facilities and activities will remain closed until the health department’s recommendations are lifted or updated, the recreation department’s director said.
