A $10,000 grant to a new or expanding business is part of the SEED Grant Competition prize that Planters Bank is offering this summer.
The business plan pitch contest “has a goal of annually supporting an emerging or expanding business in the Planters Bank service area,” states a press release from the bank. SEED is an acronym for Startup Economic and Entrepreneur Development.
The entire prize, valued at $18,000, includes:
- The $10,000 grant
- One-year membership to the local Chamber of Commerce
- Inclusion in the Wealth Builder class
- One-year membership to The Press, a co-working space in Clarksville, Tennessee
- A $500 paid advertising fund
- Monthly marketing consultation with Williams Advertising, along with assistance establishing an online presence
“Now more than ever, our local and small businesses need our support,” Planters Bank CEO Elizabeth McCoy said in the release. “As your community bank, we believe it is our responsibility to help our small business community. We introduced the SEED program to help educate & connect small businesses. The SEED grant allows us to give a local business the boost they may need to propel to the next level.”
Startups and existing businesses may compete by submitting a business plan.
A business plan workshop is slated for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, at the Murray State University Regional Campus, 5305 Fort Campbell Blvd. The deadline to submit a business plan is July 11.
The top business plans will be selected from the submissions to compete in a pitch-style competition to determine one winner for the SEED Grant Competition.
