Lane closures planned for West Seventh Street project

The work is part of a widening project between North Drive and Princeton Road.

Drivers who travel on West Seventh Street between North Drive and the Princeton Road intersection could experience some delays associated with new water line installation beginning Tuesday, June 23.

Daily lane closures are planned during the water line work, which is part of a larger project to widen that stretch of West Seventh Street.

Crews will begin installing water lines at the Princeton Road intersection and then work their way east toward North Drive, according to a press release from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s District 2 office.

The street widening is a state project because that section of West Seventh Street is part of U.S 68.

The $11.6 million project will widen 1.07 miles to three lanes and include the addition of gutters and sidewalks.

District 2 spokesman Matt Hughes told Hoptown Chronicle that the entire project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2027.
