Instrument donation drive to benefit Christian County schools

This project is inspired by Black Violin's work to overcome stereotypes and encourage people of all ages, races, and economic backgrounds to join together to break down cultural barriers.

WKMS, in partnership with the Pennyroyal Arts Council, is hosting an instrument drive this week to donate to Christian County Public Schools. Have a playable instrument that you don’t need anymore?

Pass it along to the next generation of musicians!

Drop off locations:

  • WKMS, located on the 8th floor of Murray State’s Price Doyle Fine Arts Building this week (8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday)
  • Time on the String, upstairs in Paducah’s renovated Coke Plant
  • Alhambra Theatre, during office hours, or at the Black Violin concert at 7 p.m. on Feb. 4

This project is inspired by Black Violin’s work to overcome stereotypes and encourage people of all ages, races, and economic backgrounds to join together to break down cultural barriers.

Specific instruments needed include wind instruments (flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, etc.), but all kinds are welcome. A special thank you to Time on the String in Paducah for getting this instrument drive going by donating eight string instruments, from violin to banjo to electric guitar!

If you have an instrument or any questions, you can contact Dixie Lynn at dlynn2@murraystate.edu.

Thanks for keeping the music going!
