Human trafficking awareness training session planned in Hopkinsville

The free training will "equip attendees with tools to educate, recognize, respond, and prevent human trafficking in our community," organizers said.

Sanctuary Inc. and the Pennyrile Children’s Advocacy Center will offer a free training session focusing on human trafficking awareness from 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Silo Event Center, 110 John Rives Road.

The session, Unseen No More: Hope Beyond the Darkness, is open to community members, advocates and law enforcement.

Dr. Jeanne Allert, of the Institute of Survivor Care, will give the keynote address, and Detective Ricky Lynn, of the Frankfort Police Department Special Victims Unit, will provide an overview of training opportunities and resources.

“Additional remarks will be provided by advocates and law enforcement,” organizers said in a press release. “The training is designed to equip attendees with tools to educate, recognize, respond, and prevent human trafficking in our community.”

Online registration is required and closes on Jan. 10.
