HHS grad named APSU outstanding alumnus

John McGee, who lives in Texas, was a student government president in college.

John McGee, a graduate of Hopkinsville High School who earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Austin Peay State University in 1969, has been named an APSU outstanding alumnus, according to a Christian County Public Schools news release.

McGee, who served as student government president in college, is retired and lives in Highland Village, Texas. He is a former vice president of Chilton Corp., a consumer credit rating agency, and worked for CSC Credit Services in Texas. Following retirement, he co-founded ER Centers of America, which runs emergency medical facilities in Texas, the release states. 

In 2019, McGee commemorated the 50th anniversary of his college graduation with a donation of more than $50,000 in gold coins to establish the Golden Eagle Graduate Scholarship Endowment for Austin Peay.
