Library’s Harry Potter night rescheduled to Feb. 10

Several activities are planned for fans of the fantasy series.

Harry Potter night at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library has been rescheduled for 5 p.m. Feb. 10, following a winter storm that swept through the region.

Anyone who is a fan of the fantasy series, regardless of age, is welcome, organizers said in a news release. Prizes will be awarded.

The activities will include:

  • Selfie Scavenger Hunt — Join the hunt for items located within the library.
  • The Three Broomsticks Pub — You can enjoy a glass of butter beer and snacks.
  • Quidditch — This is Quidditch with a twist, played on a table top.
  • Potions Class — Join other Potter Heads and create a fun concoction to take home.
  • Mystery of the Deathly Hallows Escape Room — This escape room is fun for all ages and groups.
  • Trivia Contest — This is an all ages activity that will have you using all your Harry Potter knowledge.

Preregistration is required for the potions class, the escape room and the trivia contest. Anyone interested should preregister at the front desk, by calling the library at 270-887-4262 or by emailing tiffany@hccpl.org.

British author J.K. Rowling wrote seven books for the Harry Potter series. It follows the story of a young wizard and his friends at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the first book, “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.” It was retitled “Sorcerer’s Stone” for its debut in the United States.
