Because of the predicted winter storm, several postponements and cancellations are expected in Hopkinsville and Christian County. This list will be updated as announcements are made.
Christian County Public Schools
Christian County Public Schools will be closed again Friday. Students will follow non-traditional instruction procedures based on each school’s NTI plan. A district spokesman said school aftercare programs and extracurricular and sports activities are canceled on Thursday.
Private schools
Heritage Christian Academy will be closed again Friday. Students will have non-traditional instruction with assignments posted on Google Classroom.
University Heights Academy will be closed again Friday. It will be a non-traditional instruction day. Students should check folders, emails and Google Classroom for assignments.
Hopkinsville Community College
All Hopkinsville Community College campuses will close at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. The college will provide virtual services on Thursday and Friday. Students should check Blackboard and contact their instructors.
Christian County Health Department
The Christian County Health Department is closed again Friday.
Christian County Sheriff’s Office
The front lobby at the Christian County Sheriff’s Office will be closed Thursday.
Utilities
The Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority’s main office and drive-thru lane downtown closed at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. It will remain closed Friday. Customers can pay bills online or by calling 270-887-4246.
Hopkinsville Transit
Hopkinsville Transit buses will not run Friday.
State office buildings
Gov. Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency on Wednesday in anticipation of the winter storm and said state office buildings will be closed Thursday to keep employees off the roads.
City of Hopkinsville
Non-essential offices at the Hopkinsville Municipal Center have closed again Friday. The public can reach city officials by phone or email. Contact information is listed here.
Hopkinsville City Council’s Future Funding Review Committee has postponed its Thursday meeting until 5:30 p.m. Feb. 10.
Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation
The Thomas Street Recreation Center will close at noon Thursday. Church league volleyball games are canceled.
Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library
The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library is closed Friday, and the Harry Potter Night activities are postponed until 5 p.m. on Feb. 10.
