Government offices, agencies announce closures

The region could have up to 7 inches of snow accumulation, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Several local government offices were closing early on Thursday because of the snowstorm. The National Weather Service issue a winter storm warning, which continues until 7 p.m., and forecasters said the region could receive up to 7 inches of snow by 5 p.m.

All non-essential city of Hopkinsville offices, including the license and revenue office, and the city clerk’s office, closed at 10 a.m.

Hopkinsville Solid Waste suspended herbie curbie collections because of worsening road conditions. Weather permitting, services will resume Friday on a one-day delayed scheduled, a city official said. 

The Christian County Clerk’s Office closed at 10 a.m. Candidates who want to file papers today can use the drop-off boxes at the front and rear entrances of the old courthouse on South Main Street. 

The Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority will close its main office and drive-thru at 401 E. 9th St. at 11:30 a.m. Customers may make payments by phone at 270-887-4246 or online at hwea-ky.com.

Pennyrile Allied Community Services will halt services and close all offices at noon today, the city announced on social media. Updates regarding service Friday will be announced on the agency’s Facebook page and website.

The Christian County Health Department closed at 10 a.m.
