Christian County under severe weather threat

The National Weather Service issued warnings of severe thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Christian County is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 2:45 p.m. today, while a thunderstorm watch will be in effect until 8 p.m., the National Weather Service office at Paducah announced.

A watch means severe thunderstorms are possible in and near the watch area, while a warning means severe weather has been reported by spotters or indicated by radar.

There is also a flash flood watch in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to the NWS report.

Because of the alerts, Christian County Public Schools announced students will be sent home at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
