CASA plans Superhero Run-Walk on April 20

The event will benefit the organization whose volunteer serve as court advocates for local children.

A Superhero Run-Walk on Saturday, April 20, at the Hopkinsville Greenway will benefit Christian County CASA, the organization whose volunteers serve as advocates in court for foster children.

Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are invited, organizers said. Everyone is encouraged to dress up as a classic or created superhero.

The event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be staged beside the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library with vendors, a bounce house and music. Awards will be given for best individual and family-group costumes.

All of the participants who register online by March 29 will receive a discounted entry free ($25 for adults and $10 for youth ages 3 to 10) and a CASA Superhero T-shirt and finisher medal.

Race-day registration will be available up to 30 minutes prior to the event. A limited number of T-shirts will be available for those who register after March 29.

Anyone interested in sponsoring a booth should email Christian County CASA at christiancocasa@gmail.com.

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. Judges appoint CASA volunteers to help in child abuse and neglect cases.

“Once assigned to a child, the volunteer researches the child’s case, reviews documents, interviews relevant people, and makes a report to the court as to what is in the best interest of the child, in terms of services, placement, visitation, reunification, and permanency,” the Kentucky CASA website states.
