Be like teen sleuth Nancy and solve a mystery at Hopkinsville’s public library

Mystery at the Library on April 26 will celebrate the 95th anniversary of the first Nancy Drew book's publication.

Nancy Drew is eternally young but the classic series of books featuring the teenage sleuth is celebrating 95 years in circulation — and the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library is marking the literary milestone with a Mystery at the Library event from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26.

“A prized possession has gone missing at the library and we need everyone’s help to solve the Mystery of the Golden Bookmark,” a library spokeswoman said in a press release.

It’s a free event, and activities will include:

  • Follow the clues and complete the scavenger hunt to solve the Mystery of the Golden Bookmark.
  • Decorate your own evidence journal and create a morse code bracelet.
  • Jeopardy: Mystery Edition will begin at noon. For ages 16 and older. Compete as teams or individuals. Prizes will be awarded.
  • Have your mugshot taken in our one-of-a-kind photo booth.
  • Enjoy snacks Nancy Drew herself enjoyed eating while investigating cases, and special birthday cupcakes.

Tiffany Luna, the library’s executive director, said Mystery at the Library “offers something for everyone — from the library’s youngest to oldest patrons.”

The library is located at 1101 Bethel St. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
