As the county sees the lowest seven-day rolling average in nearly two months, health officials urge residents to continue following guidelines in order to avoid another post-holiday weekend surge.

While the county has seen an apparent plateau recently, more than a third of all coronavirus cases since the pandemic began in mid-March have been reported within the last month.

The total number of local cases includes 220 classified as active and 660 classified as recovered.

As of Saturday afternoon, the number of active cases in the county was 223, according to the health department.

The county also confirmed 15 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Thursday, pushing the total number of local cases confirmed since the pandemic began to 864.

The number of active cases dropped to 220, the lowest it has been in nearly two weeks.

The number of local cases classified by the health department as active reached a new high of 265.

As of Friday afternoon, 243 local COVID-19 cases were classified by the health department as active.

Despite a recent decrease in the seven-day rolling average of new cases, the county has seen an upward two-week trend, with 17.7% growth over the last 14 days.

While the seven-day average of new cases decreased on Tuesday for the first time in 10 days, Christian County's cases have grown at twice the statewide rate over the last two weeks.

In the last month, Christian County has reported more than half of all coronavirus cases since the pandemic began and seven of 11 deaths attributed to the virus.

On Sunday, Christian County's seven-day average grew to 17, an all-time high since the pandemic began in mid-March.
