Christian County Health Department confirms 2 more COVID-19 deaths, 15 new cases

The county also confirmed 15 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Thursday, pushing the total number of local cases confirmed since the pandemic began to 864.

The Christian County Health Department on Thursday reported two deaths attributed to COVID-19, bringing the number of local deaths caused by the virus to 13.

The victims were an 85-year-old woman and an 86-year-old woman. Both had underlying health conditions, health department spokeswoman Amanda Sweeney said in a news release.

They are the first virus-related deaths in the county since Aug. 13.

The county also confirmed 15 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Thursday, pushing the total number of local cases confirmed since the pandemic began to 864.

The breakdown of active cases by age was:

  • Youth (0-21): 52
  • Young Adult-Middle Age (22-59): 123
  • Older Adult (60-84): 34
  • Elderly (85+): 6
