For the fifth day in a row, Christian County reaches a new high 7-day case average

In the last month, Christian County has reported more than half of all coronavirus cases since the pandemic began and seven of 11 deaths attributed to the virus.

This Christian County Health Department on Monday reported 23 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the number of new cases in the last week to 122 — the most ever reported within a seven-day span.

Over the past week, there has been an average of 17 new cases per day, an increase of 23.4% from the average two weeks earlier. It’s a growth rate that’s twice as much as the state, which on Monday had a seven-day average of 656 new cases, up 11.5% from two weeks earlier.

The county has seen a surge in cases over the last month, during which more than half of all local COVID-19 cases have been reported. Seven of the 11 deaths that have been attributed to the virus were confirmed over the same period.

The total, active cases by age group reported by the health department are:

  • Youth (0-21): 50
  • Young Adult-Middle Age (22-59): 124
  • Older Adult (60-84): 54
  • Elderly (85+): 7
