History on Tap program will highlight Christian County’s Revolutionary War veterans

Local genealogist Yvette Holmes, who has shared her research in a Hoptown Chronicle story, will lead the Oct. 22 History on Tap program.

A local genealogist will lead the next History on Tap program based on research she shared in a story for Hoptown Chronicle.

Yvette Holmes will present “From Soldier to Settler: Christian County’s Revolutionary War Soldiers” during the History on Tap program on Thursday, Oct. 22, at Hopkinsville Brewing Co. It begins at 6:30 p.m.

His land was in the area of present-day LaFayette Road and Lovers Lane. (Hoptown Chronicle illustration with Canva)

“Holmes has performed extensive research on men who served in the American Revolution and then moved west to make their home in a young Christian County,” the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County noted in a press release. “Focusing on individual stories, she has developed a narrative of early local history that connects us to a larger American story.”

Her story for Hoptown Chronicle — headlined They brought forth a new nation: Christian County’s Revolutionary War soldiers — was published on July 4 for the 250th anniversary of the country’s founding.

The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County hosts History on Tap monthly at the brewery. It is a free series designed to share local history in a relaxed setting.
