A portion of Western Kentucky, including Christian, Todd, Trigg and Caldwell counties, is under a National Weather Service heat advisory through 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Heat index values of at least 100 degrees are expected, which may cause heat illnesses.
“Higher humidity levels combined with hot temperatures on Tuesday may cause heat index values to near 110 degrees,” the advisory states.
To prevent illness, residents are advised to drink fluids, stay in air conditioned buildings and remain out of the sun.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely before 7 p.m. Sunday, and there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday, according to the forecast.
