Saturday at Hopkinsville Kroger, residents can donate goods to help Sanctuary Inc.

Shop & Save is a one-day drive to help domestic violence shelters across the state.

Hopkinsville will be part of a statewide effort on Saturday, Feb. 7, to support domestic violence survivors by helping stock pantries in domestic violence shelters across Kentucky.

Local residents are invited to help during the Shop & Share event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kroger store on Skyline Drive. Shoppers can purchase and donate items that will go to the local shelter, Sanctuary Inc.

“Shop & Share is easy to participate in — it’s all in the name,” Kentucky first lady, Britainy Beshear, said in a press release. “At your local grocery store, shop for what you need and share items with your regional domestic violence shelter. Volunteers will be on site to help — and they’ll have lists of what supplies are needed most.”

A list for Sanctuary is available here. Shoppers who buy items from the list will be able to hand them off to volunteers who will deliver them to Sanctuary, the press release states.

Shop & Share is a one-day donation drive conducted annually on the Saturday before Super Bowl. Former first lady Jane Beshear established the effort in 2008. It is conducted in collaboration with ZeroV — a state advocacy organization.

Sanctuary provides services to people affected by interpersonal violence in Trigg, Christian, Todd, Muhlenberg, Hopkins, Caldwell, Lyon, Crittenden, and Livingston counties.
