A wind advisory is in effect for Western Kentucky from 6 p.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. Monday with winds ranging from 15 to 25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
Tree limbs could be blown down, causing power outages in the Hopkinsville area.
“Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles,” officials with the NWS wrote.
In addition, a few thunderstorms are possible Sunday afternoon and evening.
“Isolated strong to severe storms are possible with the main threat being damaging wind gusts or brief tornadoes,” officials said.
Following an unseasonably warm Christmas holiday, temperatures will drop beginning late Sunday with an overnight low of 26 degrees.
Monday will be sunny with a high of 30 and low of 19 degrees. Wind chills Monday and Tuesday could dip into single digits.
