Free cedar Christmas trees available at Land Between the Lakes

Permits will be available online Nov. 28 through Dec. 24.

Land Between the Lakes is again offering free cedar trees to area residents who want to cut their own Christmas tree in the national recreation area. 

Permits, available only online, will be issues Nov. 28 through Dec. 24. 

After a permit is obtained, it should be printed and displayed in the vehicle windshield while hunting for a tree, according to LBL’s website. 

One tree per family may be cut anywhere in LBL except the following areas:

  • Within sight of U.S. 68 and The Trace
  • Cemeteries
  • Facilities, including the Elk & Bison Prairie
  • Nature watch areas
  • Campgrounds
  • Timber sale areas
  • Mowed areas

Only cedar trees may be cut.
