The Breaking Bread Community Dinner Church will serve about 550 free meals consisting of chicken breasts, sweet potatoes and green beans on Thanksgiving Day at the Aaron McNeil House. The volunteers who run the program need help rounding out the meal.
“We need bottled water, cupcakes, biscuits and cornbread,” said Dinner Church founder Donna Williams.
Donated goods can be dropped off at Aaron McNeil, 602 E. Second St., between 10 a.m. and noon Thanksgiving Day. The meals will be handed out in to-go boxes beginning at 1 p.m.
The Dinner Church serves a meal every Thursday afternoon. It has grown steadily since it was established in early 2020 and currently serves about 400 people a week.
Demand for the meals increases during holidays, including at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
Anyone wanting more information about how to assist should call Williams at 773-848-5113.
