The Saint Elmo Barbecue, one of Christian County’s oldest summer traditions, is making a comeback.
The barbecue sponsored by the St. Elmo Homemakers Club on the grounds of the old community schoolhouse on Bradshaw Road will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 14. Tickets for a barbecue pork plate, dessert and drink are $13.
The barbecue was an annual event that attracted hundreds of people every summer for 65 years before ending in 2018. It is returning as a fundraiser to help preserve the Saint Elmo schoolhouse, organizers said in a Facebook post.
Tickets are available by calling Mona Bolinger, 270-348-3448; Martha Shaw, 270-348-5597; Marsha Garnett, 270-890-9420; or Saranne Chambers, 270-498-2891.
Tickets are also available at these locations: US Bank in Pembroke, Nutrein Ag in Pembroke, Higgins Insurance, The Farmer’s Daughter, Christian County Judge-Executive Steve Tribble’s office, Christian County Farm Bureau on the Boulevard and the Christian County Extension Office.
