Students in Christian County Public Schools will go home early today because of the threat of severe weather beginning this afternoon.
Elementary schools will dismiss at noon, followed by middle and high schools at 1 p.m., the district announced shortly before 9:30 a.m.
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the region. Gusts from 40 to 55 mph are possible, according to the forecast.
“The potential for high straight-line winds is a real threat to the safety of our students and drivers on buses. We want to make sure we have adequate time to get our students and drivers home safely before the high winds begin,” Superintendent Chris Bentzel said in a press release.
Aftercare programs and extra-curricular activities are canceled Wednesday.
