Gov. Andy Beshear is extending the period for remote drivers license renewal as the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect the commonwealth.
Transportation Secretary Jim Gray originally extended all drivers licenses set to expire during office closures by 90 days. With most judicial facilities open as of June 1, Beshear is allowing the 90-day extension to expire.
However, to allow vulnerable Kentuckians the opportunity to renew licenses while avoiding in-person contact, Beshear’s administration is extending the remote renewal process until September 30.
Those interested in renewing a drivers license remotely must use mail or the circuit clerk’s drop box to issue payment. Addresses for the circuit clerk offices in Kentucky’s 120 counties may be found here. All Kentucky counties except for Fayette, Franklin and Woodford use Form TC 94-191 to complete the renewal process.
