United Way postpones campaign event

The decision to delay the end-of-campaign celebration follows a surge in COVID-19 cases.

Because of a surge in COVID-19 cases, the United Way of the Pennyrile has postponed its end-of-campaign celebration. The event had been planned for Thursday, Jan. 13.

“We have decided to postpone this event and will reschedule it to a time that we can all get together comfortably,” Betsy Bond, executive director, said in an email. “We are so grateful to our donors and our volunteers who, each year, give of themselves to help those in our community whose needs are great.”

The campaign kicked off in early September with Dan Kemp, former Hopkinsville mayor, and Brooke Jung, local tourism director, as co-chairs. They set a $750,000 goal.

“We still have a few campaigns that have not been completed so we haven’t announced a campaign total, yet,” Bond said.
