Eight couples performed in the Dancing With Our Stars competition Saturday night at the Alhambra Theatre and helped raise $70,000 for the event’s sponsors, the Pennyroyal Arts Council and Sanctuary Inc.

The show featuring one of CMT's Next Women of Country will be part of the Hoptown Harvest Festival.

A $60 entry fee covers the cart rental, green fees, snacks, beverages and lunch for golfers.

The public is invited to hear Minton's talk on the history of the U.S. Constitution.

The Pioneers will begin selling barbecue sandwiches at 4 p.m. Thursday. Their History on Tap presentation will follow at 6:30 p.m.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Several streets around Founders Square will be closed to accommodate the downtown festival that runs Friday and Saturday.

Pioneers Inc., established in 1952, is a civic organization of African-American men. Their catering and barbecue business supports their charity work in the community.

The Lights Out Festival on the grounds of Casey Jones Distillery is a fund-raiser for the Pennyroyal Arts Council.

Organizers hope to attract 1,000 runners for the half marathon and 5K on Sept. 28. The races will coincide with the Hoptown HarvestFest and Military Affairs Committee Chili Cook-off in downtown Hopkinsville.

The Woodstock Rock Orkestra will play music of Led Zeppelin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and many others of the era in the concert to benefit the Pennyroyal Arts Council.

Sponsors make a $100 donation and have their name and logo displayed at one hole on the course and at the leader board.
